Paediatric Occupational Therapy
We work with people of all ages, and many of our clients are children. The aim of occupational therapy for children is often different than it is for adults. It is vital that children can participate in activities such as playing and learning and socialising with their peers.
Our customized therapy program aims to have the biggest impact on every child’s sensory and motor skills as well as social and emotional development, in order to enable every individual to achieve his or her potential.
If you are the parent or guardian of a child aged 6 or over in the Sydney area, and you’d like to hear more about how we can help, please call for a chat. We provide services for children living with several physical and neurological conditions including:
Attention Deficit Disorder
Developmental Coordination Disorder
Assessment and Reporting
Our occupational therapists can complete the assessments needed to apply for external support and resources such as Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA).
To carry out this assessment, we’ll investigate and report on all areas of your daily life and where you need support in terms of therapy, environment, or assistive technologies.
We can also provide expert opinion for medico-legal matters, such as assessing the impact that an injury or condition has on an individual’s life.
Our therapists have worked with both plaintiffs and defendants in cases of motor accidents, work-related illness or injury, professional negligence, and public liability.
Speech Pathology in Sydney
Our experienced speech therapists work with children and adults who have communication difficulties or speech impairments for a number of reasons.
As well as direct therapy with the individual, we can provide support and training for family members and carers, and assess if assistive technology or further therapy would be beneficial.
Our speech pathology programme includes speech and sound articulation, understanding and use of language, social communication, fluency, and literacy
We work with a wide range of clients with communication difficulties ranging from mild stuttering and speech delays to severe speech impairments caused by a neurological condition or developmental delay.
Our therapists work with a number of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods including sign language, communication boards, and speech generating devices. We can work with you to determine if you would benefit from using AAC, and can assist in the use of various devices.
Our speech pathologists also assist clients in Sydney who are experiencing problems with eating or swallowing. The symptoms of dysphagia (swallowing impairments) may include:
Gagging or choking at mealtimes
Frequently feeling that food or drink is “going down the wrong way”
Recurring chest infections.
We can work with you to assess your swallow function, recommend therapy and diet modifications, and arrange referral to a specialist if required.
Physiotherapy in Sydney
Do you have difficulty with strength, flexibility, balance, or coordination that impacts on your everyday life? Our Sydney Physiotherapists can assess mobility problems and create an individual plan, which may include therapy and/or mobility aids to improve your level of comfort and safety in daily life.
We can also provide a falls risk assessment, assess safety hazards within the home, and provide advice on how to reduce falls. This helps to improve confidence and reduce the risk of accident and injury for clients who have declining mobility or a history of falls.
If pain, injury, or illness is affecting your mobility, we can work with you to improve core and limb strength, manage pain, and increase your endurance over time. Get in touch with our physiotherapy team to arrange an assessment and customised exercise programme.
