We work with you to improve your independence in areas that are most meaningful to you
Our occupational therapists work closely with clients to maximise their independence in their day to day life. This can range from working with clients to improve self care activities such as showering or dressing; assisting clients to access the community; exploring suitable housing options or prescribing assistive technologies.
Our occupational therapists work with clients of all ages and abilities, tailoring our therapy to each client's specific needs and goals.
Better Rehab's occupational therapists are specialised in assessing and prescribing home modifications. Our goal is to help you maximise your independence and safety within your home. Some of our frequent recommendations include:
Grab rails in the shower or toilet
Hand held shower hoses
Redesign of a bathroom or kitchen
Our occupational therapists have specialised knowledge in a range of assistive technologies. This includes low-risk assistive technologies such as shower chairs, dressing aids, adapted cutlery, non-slip matting and wheeled walking aids.
Our clinicians are also specialised in complex equipment prescription such as customised manual and power drive wheelchairs, mobile shower commodes, hoists and pressure care equipment.
Upper Limb Therapy
Better Rehab employs specialist Occupational Therapists with extensive experience in upper limb therapy. We adopt the latest research evidence to provide tailored programs that achieve excellent results.
Activities of Daily Living Assessments and Therapy
Better Rehab's occupational therapists are skilled at assessing activities of daily living. We are able to provide therapy sessions to improve our clients' safety or independence with daily living tasks such as showering, dressing and eating. We are also able to make recommendations regarding assistive technologies that may assist a client in these areas too.
Wheelchair and Seating Assessments
Our occupational therapists are highly skilled in wheelchair and seating prescription. We are able to assess a client's needs in the comfort of their own home, arrange the appropriate trials of seating solutions and prescribe customised solutions to improve clients' comfort and independence with their mobility.
Children have many daily activities that they participate in including playing, learning and socialising. For children, the goal of Occupational Therapy with Better Rehab is to ensure that a child is able to functionally participate in, and succeed in, these activities throughout their day. Better Rehab’s Occupational Therapists provide children the opportunity to engage in activities that are fun, meaningful and most importantly, offer the foundations of development that are necessary to excel in their lives, both academically and socially.
Better Rehab’s Occupational Therapists address challenges in sensory, motor, academic and socio-emotional development that impact a child’s meaningful engagement and participation in everyday activities within a playful context. We provide services for children and adolescents (age 6 and older) with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Down Syndrome, as well as many other conditions.

Better Rehab can provide an expert opinion in medicolegal matters. Our assessments determine the impact of an injury/condition on a person’s life, including activities at home, work and leisure. A participant’s ability is assessed through medical opinion, observation, interview and all other available evidence.
Our medicolegal assessments measure the impact of injury and then make ongoing recommendations which may include treatment, therapy, equipment, environmental modifications, transport and care.
We provide opinion for plaintiffs and defendants in motor accident, professional negligence, public liability and work-related injury or illness matters. Our Occupational Therapists have experience in a wide range of injuries/conditions and their impacts on daily life. These include, but are not limited to, respiratory conditions, successive concussions, spine and brain injuries, and neurological conditions.
Our occupational therapists are able to complete comprehensive assessments to support clients who are exploring their housing options, including those applying for Supported Independent Living (SIL) or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). We work with you to explore all areas of your daily living including your support, environmental, therapy and assistive technology needs. Our occupational therapists develop a comprehensive and tailored report that outlines the client's needs to submit to NDIS. We continue to work with our clients to assist them with the transition to their new living arrangement.
